911 Emergency Dispatch Center

The Town of Evans Police Department is a Public Service Answering Point (PSAP) for the Town of Evans, Town of Brant, Village of Angola and the Village of Farnham. When you dial 911 you will be connected to the Evans Police Department and Fire Dispatch, also known as Evans Fire Control. Public Safety Dispatchers (PSD) dispatch police and fire for two towns and two villages and seven fire departments. Evans Police Dispatch Center is a full service center, operating 24x7, 365 days a year. The department has a walk up window where PSDs can assist citizens in need. The PSDs handle all police, fire and emergency complaints. In any given year our center handles some 34,000 calls for service. PSD’s duties also include completing police reports, updating arrest warrants, stolen property, stolen motor vehicles, monitoring security cameras and other police and fire related duties.

In 2010, the Evans Police Department partnered with the fire departments of Evans Fire Control to secure a grant, part of which was used to upgrade the Emergency Dispatch Center. With Lake Erie Beach Fire Department as the lead agency, a $500,000 grant was applied for, part of which was used to upgrade the 911 Emergency Dispatch Center. The Evans Police Department now has a state-of-the-art emergency dispatch center. In 2013, the dispatch center will have the next general 911 system installed. When this system is installed the PDSs will be able to pinpoint 911 calls with a state-of-the-art mapping system. This will reduce the time it takes police and first responders to get on scene of the emergency. They will be a mouse click away from contacting other emergency agencies within Erie County if assistance is needed.
